Birds in Trees
This design was taken from a 1960s stamped for embroidery dresser scarf. A pair of birds—one in flight and one perched on a branch—surrounded by flowers (apple or cherry blossoms, I think). The original scarf measured 00" x 00" and the design was printed on both ends. We don't have much use for dresser scarves these days but the design would be perfect for a pillowtop, an apron, or a tea towel.
Design uses a combination of straight and outline stitches with a few French knots in the flowers, lazy daisy leaves, and satin stitch for the bird eyes.
This is a two-sheet pattern (8.5" x 11") so you can combine both sections or use them separately. I'm also including a copy of the original instructions (in both French and English) detailing the colors used (O.N.T. 6-strand cotton but with color names as well as numbers so you can approximate with current embroidery floss colors). All will arrive packaged in a resealable plastic sleeve with a basic embroidery
stitch guide included. These are not iron-on
patternsyou will need to trace them yourself.
$2.50
This pattern is also available as a PDF. If you chose this option, you'll receive your pattern via email after I've received your payment. You must have Adobe Acrobat to view and print the files. The Embroidery Stitch Guide is not included but you'll find a downloadable copy on the embroidery pattern page.
