This pretty sachet has been handcrafted from two vintage handkerchiefs. The first is white cotton with an embroidered iris in white, yellow, and dark red. It has a scalloped edge and metallic gold embroidery on the edge. The second features coordinating yellow crocheted edging. Both hankies are layered over a vintage dark red and white striped cotton fabric; this fabric is also used for the back. The layers are secured by two stacked vintage buttons—one red, one yellow. It measures approximately 4.5 inches square.

Each of my sachets is filled with a mixture of French lavender buds and buckwheat hulls—the lavender for it's intense scent and the buckwheat for lightness (lavender can be expensive and heavy for shipping;  using buckwheat helps offset both these issues). Customers have told me that the scent lasts for years and years; just give them a squeeze to refresh the scent!

Use your sachet in your linen cupboard to repel moths but it's really too pretty to hide away. Lavender is renowned as a sleep aid so keep one on your bedside table for those nights when you're having trouble falling asleep.
