These patterns first appeared on a set of five stamped-for-embroidery kitchen towels produced in the 1950s. You can purchase vintage linen toweling or ready-made towels to complete your own set, or use the designs for other projects. You will receive the five designs shown here—

• a kitten pouring milk from a pitcher/ “CUTE AS A ...” 
• a bear with a pot of honey/ “HUNGRY AS A...” 
• a mouse with a wedge of cheese/ “QUIET AS A ...” 
• a fox with a bunch of grapes/ “SLY AS A ...” 
• a lion with a bone/ “STRONG AS A...”

Print out your designs, then transfer them to your fabric. I like to use a wash-away or fade-away marking pen and a lightbox or bright window to do this, but you can also use a transfer pencil designed for this purpose.
