These cute Dutch girl designs, featuring a combination of cross stitch and traditional embroidery stitches, were traced from a vintage transfer pattern for kitchen towels. Known as Day-of-the Week or DOW towels, they contained a design for each day of the week—washing on Monday, ironing on Tuesday, sewing on Wednesday, shopping on Thursday, cooking on Friday, cleaning on Saturday, and a leisure activity (or church) on Sunday.

Print out your designs, then transfer them to your fabric. I like to use a wash-away or fade-away marking pen and a lightbox or bright window to do this, but you can also use a transfer pencil designed for this purpose.
