This Christmas-themed sachet has been handcrafted from two vintage handkerchiefs. The first is white cotton with embroidered scalloped edge and printed poinsettias in reds and greens. The second features coordinating green crocheted edging. Both hankies are layered over a contemporary red and white polka dot cotton fabric; this fabric is also used for the back. The layers are secured by two stacked vintage buttons—one white pearl, one red and flower-shaped. It measures approximately 4.5 inches square.

Each of my sachets is filled with a mixture of French lavender buds and buckwheat hulls—the lavender for its intense scent and the buckwheat to make them a bit lighter for shipping. Use them to scent your linen cupboard and repel moths or keep it on your bedside table in case you have trouble falling asleep—smelling lavender is good for that. And the scent lasts for years, just give it a squeeze to refresh the scent.
