This pretty sachet has been handcrafted from two vintage handkerchiefs. The first is white cotton embroidered with an elaborate "R" monogram in white. You'll see a little gray around some of the letter because the designs for this type of hanky were drawn in pencil and then covered with thread, sometimes not covered completely. Underneath is a second white cotton handkerchief with coordinating white crocheted edging. Both are layered over a contemporary lavender purple floral cotton fabric; this is also used for the back. The layers are secured by a vintage button stack—one purple and one white. It measures approximately 4.5 inches square.  

Each of my sachets is filled with a mixture of French lavender buds and buckwheat hulls—the lavender for it's intense scent and the buckwheat for lightness (lavender can be expensive and heavy for shipping;  using buckwheat helps offset both these issues). Customers have told me that the scent lasts for years and years; just give them a squeeze to refresh the scent!

Use your sachet in your linen cupboard to repel moths but it's really too pretty to hide away. Lavender is renowned as a sleep aid so keep one on your bedside table for those nights when you're having trouble falling asleep.
